The 21 Spartan alumni, friends, and neighbors who gathered Saturday at the Metropolitan Museum of Art were entertained and informed during an illuminating hour long “highlights” tour.
The Temple of Dendur, for example, a gift to the U.S. from the Egyptian government, is housed in a wing built expressly for it.
On Friday, September 15th, about 25 New York area Spartans celebrated the beginning of fall at Heartland Brewery on 34th Street.
This year’s Fall Fest event was held in cozy, semi-private space that made it easy to meet and network with a lot of new Spartan faces.

About 50 guests gathered in an elegant private room at Gallaghers Steakhouse in Midtown Manhattan for our 19th Annual Wine Tasting and Scholarship Dinner on Friday, May 12.
The diverse group of alumni from NYC and elsewhere throughout the country were welcomed by Greg Hauser, President of the Spartan Alumni Foundation of Greater NYC, and Jason Johnson, President of the MSU Alumni Club of Greater New York.

Partnering with New York Cares and other Big Apple Big Ten alumni, the MSU Alumni Club of Greater NY spent a (somewhat rainy) Saturday side by side with dozens of other volunteers beautifying Claremont Park in the Bronx.
A dozen and a half Spartans, family and friends enjoyed a Saturday afternoon on a private tour of the European Wing of the Metropolitan Museum of Art. We were led by docent Jo Kirsch, one of the museum’s most prominent guides.
Our group viewed some of the more famous art masterpieces of the 13th to 18th Centuries.
Almost two hundred Greater New York Spartans were hosted by Michigan State University for a gala dinner on Wednesday, November 9, at the historic Edison Ballroom in Manhattan’s Theater District. The dinner was one of a series of regional outreach events as MSU’s multi-year “Empower Extraordinary” capital campaign enters its last year.
On Friday, September 9, four dozen New York area Spartans and friends enjoyed a memorable night of dancing and fun on the Hudson River during the 2016 Fall Fest Boat Cruise with Hornblower Cruises. The night was jubilant as everyone celebrated New York and creating new friendships amongst area Spartans.
